popsicles = summer mess (or not?!)

Aren't these things the coolest?

A friend told me about them last year and wow they are so great! They have saved so many outfits and so many sticky hands. Sure Emma still tries to hold her popsicle, but really isn't near as sticky as she would be without it. I picked these up on the popsicle/ice cream isle at Walmart.... you how sometimes they have things hanging? Anyway, if you don't have some go spend a couple bucks and get some for your kiddos!

...

You guys were so funny this week about the BIG news you thought we had. I got more phone calls, emails and texts wondering what our news was. Great to know that people actually read my blog! I had people thinking we were moving or that Adam got a promotion or even that I was going back to school to get my teaching certificate. So since you are on the edge of your seats dying to know our news...

hope you aren't too disappointed....

We got a dog.

Her name is Suzie.

Suzie is 3 years old and pretty laid back. I have yet to hear her bark and she is so sweet to the girls. Oh how the girls love her.

Emma walks around after her saying "dog, dog" and Grace just wants Suzie to be her little baby. She only weighs about 17lbs, so she is pretty small compared to our Sammie that was a hefty 90lbs!

We actually sort of adopted her or were given her from my grandparents. You see this weekend was a big weekend, my grandparents moved into a new place where caring for Suzie would be pretty difficult.

You know its VERY hard to give your dog away that you love and care about. I know because its how we felt when we gave Sammie to a new home about a year and half ago.

So what did you think the news was really about????

Also, if you get a chance please say a prayer for Lila Grace - our neighbors sweet little 3 month old is having a 6 hour open heart surgery in the morning (Monday 6am). Thanks!!!

catch up...

Sorry I've been sort of MIA lately... we have just been enjoying our summer.
Grace had 4 weeks of swim lessons (which I need to post of video of her swimming!) and we have been busy with friends and traveling a bit too.
*********
Our great friends, Hailey and Joey, welcomed their third (yes I said THIRD!) baby girl into the world today. Presley Rose tipped the scales at 7lbs 15ozs (still small to me). She is healthy and both mom and baby are doing great.
Can't wait to see you Presley!!
*********
We have some news of our own (no we are NOT having a baby), but I have to wait a few more days to share the news.
*********
Adam passed his PE!! He is now a Professional Engineer. It's actually a really big deal and I couldn't be more proud. We even went to dinner tonight at Olive Garden with the girls to celebrate! Way to go Adam!

just emma

Here is a video of Emma just being herself. She LOVE being outside and loves to ride on Grace's old bike (even though she is far from being able to reach the peddles!).

6 years

Adam and I are celebrating 6 years of marriage today.
I still remember our first date nearly 9 years ago. How have I even known him that long?

No big outing this year, no big dinner (we are actually meeting our friends at the pool and having pizza!), no big gifts, but there will always be a lot of love. And really isn't that what really matters... just spending time together. (get your minds out of the gutter people!!)

I love you Adam. Thank you for being an amazing husband.

15 months

My sweet baby girl is 15 months old.

Emma's stats:

weight: 21lbs 6ozs (30%)
length: 29.5 inches (20%) - not sure if this is right since she was in the 40% at 3 months ago??
head: 18.75inches (91%!!)

Emma's appointment went well today. We talked about her biting... ya... biting! She bites or tries to bite at least once a day. It use to just be directed at Grace, but not anymore... she has tried to bite a couple friends and Adam and I. Hopefully this wont last much longer!!

Emma is free of the paci. We finally said bye bye to the paci nearly 2 weeks ago. And I love it. She does try to chew on her blankie when she is sleepy or upset, but other than that I'm so happy to be done! (If you are still thinking about getting rid of your child's ... DO IT!)

Emma eats like a horse! She totally out eats Grace by far. She loves fruits and veggies, but loves chips and suckers too!! She is also eating most meals with a spoon/fork in hand and even eats from a plate most days (that does sometimes end up in her hair or on the floor!)

She loves the water. We have gone swimming several times this summer and she loves it. She isn't afraid to put her face in the water and loves to blow bubbles. So cute! She will be swimming like her sister in no time (another post to come on Grace's swimming!).

Emma is my little monkey too. She loves to climb. She can already get herself onto my couch and can climb the ladder to get to the top of my neighbors swing set! I'm hoping this doesn't mean she will learn to get out of the crib anytime soon. I have plans to keep her there for at least another year!!

She is also talking a lot. Her favorite things to say are "dog" and "wow!". I'm really not sure how many words she says but she is talking all the time. She also still signs the words "please", "more" and "all done". I'm so ready for her talk more though... this stage is tough b/c they totally know what they want, but don't have the words to tell you. You know!
Emma can show you were her eyes, nose, mouth and belly button are at. She is also really big into mimicking you... whether it is talking or doing. If we brush our hair, then she wants to do that. If I go grab a bag to put stuff into for the pool, then she has to have her own bag. It's super cute!

My baby is getting so big!!

And just for fun... here is Grace's 15 month post.

good friends

For this past weekend it was adults only.

Adam and I got to travel down to the Houston area to visit our good friends Matt and Meagan.

Matt was Adam's best man. They met freshman year of college and became fast friends. And Meagan I've actually known since 6th grade. We have always kept in touch even though we were involved in different activities and we went to different colleges in two different states. And I guess you could say we introduced them, even though we weren't physically there.

So Friday afternoon we dropped the girls off with my parents and headed south. First off, remember last weekend we drove 5 hours to Arkansas... well this 5 hour drive couldn't have been more opposite. We were able to hear each other talk, hang out, eat snacks (without having to share with 2 short girls), listen to the radio and enjoy the drive.

While in Houston we ate lots of yummy food, hung out, drank yummy wine, got pedicures, shopped (and tried stuff on!), stayed up way past my bedtime and even got in a couple runs.
It was fabulous!

To get even more out of our weekend we came back north through Aggieland (aka College Station, TX). We had lunch with my aunt, uncle and cousins and then stopped by the bookstore to pick some Aggie gear for us and the girls.

I think the girls had a good weekend too. My parents were exhausted, but glad they got to spend the weekend with the girls.

Hopefully it wont be too long before we back down to H-town!
Thanks for having us Meagan and Matt! We love you both and are blessed to have friends as good as you two!
