funk

Well really I'm just in a funk. Grace has been sick for over a week now... she ended up having a sinus infection. Emma now has a little cough, but thankfully no other symptoms so far. I'm going stir crazy b/c we have spent so many days at home and my only contact with real adult life is when Adam comes home at night. I take that back, I did go eat at Chick-fil-A with my mom for lunch today! WOO HOO!!

So maybe tonight I'll go to Target by myself... Oh the exciting life of a mom with a toddler and a newborn. :)

On a more exciting note, Emma and I are flying to see my brother and his new baby boy, Jackson in a little over a week. Grace and Adam are going to have a weekend all to themselves here. I'm super excited to little Jackson and my bro and his wife too :)

huh?

It's 8:15 in the morning and both my girls are still sleeping! Why on earth am I up and sitting at the computer??

Emma did get up around 6:15 to eat and I just got up after I fed her thinking Grace would be up shortly b/c it was 7. I was wrong.

Why does it always work out this way?

All smiles

Emma has started smiling over the last couple weeks. Here is a short video of the evidence. Excuse the weird sounding voice... I promise I don't sound so corny in real person :)

post by pictures

So here we are... lots of cute pictures of our last weekend... only took me till Thursday to get them posted! HA!!

We started off by going to this cool toddler place called the Wonder Place. Grace and Molly had a blast!

Playing in the tubes
Playing the piano

Shopping at the market

Off to the vet

Time for lunch

That afternoon Hailey and I took the little girls shopping while the daddy's and big girls took naps and played outside.

The next morning we got all 8 of us to church by 9:30... pretty impressive with 2 newborns. (Actually Hailey and I were little late b/c we had to feed the little ones). Here is a picture of the little girls after church... smiles and all! (This was the first picture I've been able to catch Emma's smile... it only comes out every so often!).

My girl enjoying a pickle at lunch after storytime... she doesn't eat the skin!

We did lots of other fun stuff, but the camera was unfortunatly forgotten. But at least I got a few cute ones!

As if things weren't busy enough with a newborn, Grace decided to get sick! The morning we left Arkansas she had a little fever which topped out last night at 103! Here is a picture of her from last night... she fell asleep at 6pm on the couch! Thankfully its only a virus and the baby seems to be spared from it so far!
Oh and only ONE day till my hubbie comes home!! YEAH!!! Boy do I need a break.

real quick

I just wanted to tell everyone that we got home safely today around 3 and things couldn't have gone better!

The trip was great! The girls were FABULOUS in the car... either sleeping/watching the dvd player or playing quietly with toys and books. It was super fun to see Hailey and her family... we miss them so much. I have a good 100 pictures or so of the weekend that I'm going to try to go through tomorrow, so you will just have to wait for pictures of the 4 girls!

Oh and the best part is that Adam was able to drive to Arkansas (about a 5.5 hr drive for him) to see us! He got in late Friday night and had to leave Sunday after church, but it was an awesome treat to have Adam with us for the weekend. Plus it gave me a little time to myself... something that is a rare find when you have 2 children and you are all by your lonesome. Again I don't know how military wives do it! And single moms, etc... wow!

a little luck

Tomorrow morning I am driving 5 hours from my home to Arkansas to visit my good friend, Hailey (and her family) and I'm doing it by myself with 2 small children.

Yeah, am I crazy to do this with a 2 year old and a newborn?

Since my hubbie is out of town I thought what the heck. We wont be in any hurry (except maybe to get out of the car before I commit myself) and I haven't gotten to see Hailey's new house.

So wish me a little luck that I don't go crazy and that the girls either sleep, play quietly or relax to some Barney on DVD.

See you next week! :)

SPLAT!

Woo Hoo

Emma slept EIGHT hours last night!

Yes you read that right. EIGHT HOURS!

I'm sure it was a fluke deal, but it was great. I got about 7.5 hours of sleep straight. Although I did wake up this morning in pain and ready to feed her. But it worth getting that many of hours of sleep in a row. I feel great today!

boo boo

We had a busy weekend filled with a little scare.

Adam took his big test on Saturday... 8 hours of math... YUCK!!! But its over and he thinks he did okay. We wont find out the results for 12 weeks.

Then Sunday we joined the church we have been going to since we moved. We really love it. There are so many young families and tons of ways to get involved and meet new people. We already found a Sunday school class filled with young mom and dads. We are really blessed to have found such a wonderful place.

But at church Grace got a "boo boo". We went to pick her up from the nursery and she was crying. This is very unlike her. She goes into the nursery happy and gets super excited when we get there to pick her up. But yesterday she wasn't happy to see us. They said she had just started crying about 10 minutes earlier. Anyway, we got to the car and we realized she was not moving her right arm at all. I really noticed b/c she didn't want me to bend her arm to put it through the arm strap of her car seat. And she wouldn't suck her fingers (like she does to sooth herself when she is normally upset). I told Adam I would run back in just to make sure that something hadn't happened. I thought well maybe she just fell or something. The teachers were gone so the church director called them (who just also happen to be not the normal teachers) and they said they were dancing when she started crying. So we left and I called the pediatricians after hours number and left a message. We got home and she was still upset and would not move her arm... we even tried to bribe her with candy. I had to feed the baby so while I fed the baby we waited for the pediatrician to call and thankfully he did b/c we were about to head to the ER. He called and told us to come to his house b/c it sounded like a dislocated elbow or shoulder! (Long story, short... when we first started going to our new pediatrician we found out that he lived just a neighborhood away, so he knew we lived close). So we went to his house and sure enough she had a dislocated elbow and he was able to pop it back into place. OUCH! Grace hardly cried. I think it was really more of a relief. By time we left his house she was already back to her normal 2 year old self. The doctor told us that it happens quite often with kids, just by grabbing them by the hand the wrong way. The church called today to make sure she was okay... they felt so bad. But really it sounds like something I could have done by just grabbing her arm the wrong way. We are so lucky to have such a great pediatrician! He saved us big bucks by not having to go to the ER. We want to do some sort of thank you for him... any ideas? Maybe a gift card to a local restaurant?

Oh and to make things even crazier... Adam left on business yesterday afternoon to Nashville for TWELVE days! What am I going to do without my hubbie for that long. How did military wived do it?? I'm tired already and its only day 1! :)

an amazing mother

http://audreycaroline.blogspot.com/

This is the blog of an amazing Christian mother of 4 precious little girls. Sadly she delivered her 4th little girl this past week, all knowing that the baby would die soon after delivery from extensive health problems they had learned about during their 20 week ultrasound.

This story really touched me. Maybe its because I have 2 little girls of my own. Or maybe because I just had a baby, but I can't say enough how blessed we are to have 2 healthy and happy little girls.

Story time

I've been meaning to post this for a couple weeks now .... really since we first went to story time here in our new city. We went to story time when we lived in Oklahoma but it was 30 miles from our house and it was nothing to write home about, so we only went a couple times.

Anyway, Adam has been going to library a lot since we moved b/c has been studying for a big engineering test (that he actually takes tomorrow! FINALLY!!). He raved about how nice and new the library was so the girls and I had to check it out.

First of all, there is a huge demand for story time that they offer it 6 different times during the week and you have to get a ticket to go. Yes, a ticket... while it is free (which makes it even better), the room is only so big to hold a certain number of kiddos and their mamas (and dads too).

It is just so fun. Grace loves the stories and the music, and the libriarian who leads story time is so fun and animated! If anyone would like to join Grace, Emma and I for story time let us know. We typically go on Tuesday or Friday at 10am and try to get there just a tad early since it is first come first serve!

And since every post is better with a picture here are a couple.

Grace enjoying a slice of bread with soy nut butter (peanut free)... she loves it!

And Emma hanging out in her "safe place". This is the place she pretty much lives at b/c her sister can't reach her when she is on the kitchen counter :) And this picture was just too cute not to include. My sleeping beauty.

one handed

I have become pretty talented these days. I can do lots of things with just one hand like... type, change a diaper, breastfeed a baby, cook, make grocery lists, fold laundry, tend to every need of a demanding toddler, build a castle, play house and the list could on... I just can't put my little snuggle bug down. Yes, I do put Emma down for naps and she does hang out in her bouncy seat, swing, crib, etc most of the day. But once Grace is in bed for her nap or bedtime I find myself going straight for Emma to get some cuddle time. I think I'm just worried she is going to be 2 years old before I know it. I like her just the way she is right now... but she can't stay for little for forever so I'll enjoy the cuddle time now!

How quickly they change...

Last night we went over to our friend's house, Seth and Tiffany, for yummy burgers!
Tiffany was due to have their little baby girl Reagan on the same day I was due with Emma. She ended up having Reagan 12 days before Emma and she weighted in at a tiny 5lbs 13ozs. But how quickly babies do change.

This picture was taken when Seth, Tiffany and Reagan came to visit Emma in the hospital.

And this picture was taken just last night.

1 month

Emma is already one month. How did that happen so quickly?

Emma is such a sweet and laid back baby. She loves to watch her big sister, take a bath (with the exception of getting out of the bath) and loves to be swaddled. She isn't really a fan of tummy time, but I'm sure she will like it more soon.
Here are a couple new pics of my growing girl. She is already turning into my little rolly polly!

Sleeping during the bath... seriously what child falls asleep during the bath. She does it almost every time!

A close up of Emma hanging out on the changing table...one of her favorite places. Look at those big blue eyes!

newborn news

Well I guess having an itty bitty newborn and a toddler is catching up with me... I'm tired! My eyes have been blood shot for the last 2 days and I just can't seem to catch up. I did manage to catch a 45 minute nap today while the girls slept, but I just still feel tired. Thankfully Emma only wakes up once a night, but my dang alarm clock (Grace) wont let me sleep in past 7am! I guess shouldn't be complaining... Emma could be waking to eat every 2 hours at night... I can't imagine how tired I would be then!!!

In other news I did get the birth announcements out yesterday so I thought I would post the picture I included. My precious little itty bitty baby girl...
