she stands!!

EARLY this morning (as in the middle of the night) I woke up to a crying baby on the monitor. So I hopped out of bed and ran upstairs to my sweet little 6 month old STANDING in her crib, holding onto the railing. So I battled with her for the next hour and a half to go back to sleep, but every time I laid her down she was up and crawling towards to the rail and pulling up. Oh joy. I hate this stage. She is just so focused on going that she can't give her little body a rest like it needs. Anyway, just wanted to document the event. When she wakes up I'll see if I can snap a picture.

Update: Got a GREAT video, but for some reason my computer isn't happy so I can't get it on here. I will soon. Oh and we had another fabulous night of standing. How long does this last?

miss mischief

I knew it was just a matter of days. Emma is everywhere and into everything.

Yesterday she discovered the outlets. Notice there is no outlet covers.
Then today she noticed the stairs. And she can pull up on them. She was really just going for Grace's shoes, but I'm sure she will want to go up soon. And notice in the back left of the picture the gate wide open. Guess its time to baby proof the house!!

the park

Since the weather has finally turned to somewhat bearable.. you know low 90's/upper 80's... we have been getting out more often to enjoy it. Emma LOVES the swings and I finally remembered to bring my camera with us yesterday and took some pictures of the girls. Now if I could just get Adam to hang Emma's baby swing out back! :)

There was also this really cool bridge that I thought would make for some cute pictures. Once Emma is walking we are so going back. OH and maybe once I have a new camera. Although I might add I'm getting pretty good at looking through the view finder. Funny when you are so use to using a digital camera you forget that is even on your camera to use.

pillows

We went to the Balloon Fest this past weekend. While it was HOT, we did have fun and it did eventually cool off. We got to go with some friends which made it even more fun. OH and about the title... well Grace calls Balloons (of all sizes), Pillows. She has for a while now and when we ask her to say "balloon" she looks at us like we are crazy and say "pillow" very slowly and articulating each sound. Oh well. I guess she will figure it out sooner or later.

pics

My aunt and uncle went to Beijing for the Olympics last month and brought Grace and Emma back some adorable pjs. The funny thing is that their sizing there is so off that they got them big. Grace's is a size 6 and Emma's is a size 2!! WOW! Grace can hardly wear a 3T b/c she is so skinny. Are they really that much smaller or is there sizing just different? Thanks Doug and Holly!!

Anyway, here are the my cute girls.

Emma discovered the toilet paper the other day. I sat her down on the floor in the bathroom while I was going to the restroom. I looked up to see that she had found the roll of toilet paper on Grace's little potty. I have a cute video I will try to upload later, but the picture just shows her reaction... CAUGHT!

And finally, Adam was gone on business a couple days this week and I guess he knew I had a long week... so he brought me some pretty fall daisy's. Such a sweetie.

motivation

So this morning I was reading a girl's blog that I've followed for forever... probably since I started blogging 2 years ago. Her name is Jen at amazing trips... http://amazingtrips.blogspot.com/. She has triplets that are 3 and a one year old little boy. She also works from home and found time to train for a triathlon. WOW!

How lazy am I!?!

So she has turned the tables on her readers and challenged us. So in an attempt to get a little more toned and maybe lose a few pounds I decided to challenge myself.

Adam and I have been talking about doing a 5K run for a while and since the weather FINALLY turned beautiful what a better time.

Now just to find a 5K run... I was thinking maybe sometime in November. So if you want to join me in this challenge let me know. That way I can encourage you too!

halloween costumes

Got any ideas?

I don't want to just go to Target and pick one up... I was really thinking of making something. Something easy that is. I thought for Grace maybe a cowgirl (b/c she has these super cute red boots) or maybe a princess and make a tutu. But those ideas are boring. I would like something that I could do for Emma too... or make her be some type of coordinating costume.

Let me know if you have any ideas or know of any good website out there. Thanks.

Oh and Emma ate some squash today. Just about 8 bites, but did good. Grace tried it too (she was BEGGING me!) and she said YUMMY. So if Emma decides she doesn't like this baby food business I guess I can give it all to Grace! :) HA! At least she would eat her veggies this way!

ramblings...

Wow what a weekend. Friday and Saturday Adam and I were glued to the tv to watch Ike. My aunt and uncle have a house in Galveston (thankfully it is not their primary home) so we watching closely to see the hurricanes damage. We don't know about their house yet. I also have several friends and family in the greater Houston area. My parents even took in a different aunt and uncle that live in Houston. Since there is no power there is no air conditioning and it is still HOT in Houston this time of year. So they headed for some place cooler.
We also got news that 2 other friends got power back today. AMEN!

In other news, Grace had school today so Emmy and I headed to my friend's house to play. A couple other mommy's joined us and our 4 little girls just played on the floor. They all played contently while Emma crawled around stealing all their toys! Here are the sweetie's...

Ella, Emma, Reagan and Rachel

And in other breaking news... Emma ate Sweet Potatoes. I was just complaining/discussing how Emma was not interested in baby food. It has just been in the past week or two that I've gotten Emma to eat rice cereal. I've tried Peas, Green Beans, Sweet Potatoes, Squash and I guess that is it, well she finally decided it wasn't so bad. She ate about 10 bites and then was done. Since that went well I thought I would try some peaches this evening... oh my...you would have thought I fed her poison. She gagged and gave me a face like she ate something very sour. I guess we will try it another day. :)

new camera

I need one!

I just got a new camera, oh about 8 months ago, and I broke the LCD screen. Still not sure how it happened, but I think it has something to do with a 2 year old.

Anyway, so I need a new one. My last two camera's have been a Canon Powershot and I've loved both of them. They are EASY to use and take good pictures.

But I'm not sure if I should get another. Any recommendations? I'm really just wanting a small, easy to use point and click camera. I like a fast shutter speed, but I also don't want to spend a fortune. Really $250 with tax and shipping is my max. So any suggestions?

Thanks!

OH and I should also add that I have called Canon and to fix it it will be around $150, so I think I would rather just get a new one.

more on Emmy

Emma had her 6 month check up today and I just wanted to post her stats before I forget them!
Weight: 16lbs 8ozs (60%)
Height: 26 inches (59%)
Head: 17.5inches (93%) ... lots of brains I'm guessing :)
I also wanted to share the exciting news... Emma is offically crawling!! Only a few feet or so to get to a near by toy, but she is definitly on all 4's (sometimes it's just an army crawl) and going somewhere. I'm sure in no time she will be across the room or in the next room. Time to baby proof this house! I'll post a video as soon as I can get one.

6 months

Half a year... gone in the blink of an eye. Practically overnight.

Sweet little Emmy you are such a sunshine for our days. We love your little giggle and your sweet smile and even your quiet cry. It's funny to think you have only been here for 6 months, because I can't remember what life was like without you apart of it.

These days you are loving sitting up. You are still not really crawling, but if there is a toy (or a remote control or anything of your sisters) within a few feet of you, you find a way to get to it... really just scooting on the floor or rolling. You are still rocking on all 4's and have moved your hands and legs, but just not at the same time to make you GO like you so badly want to.

You think your big sister is so cool. I know she is your idol b/c you watch every move she makes and get sad when she isn't around. This is probably why you love riding in the car. We have you set up in the middle and your sister on the side, so you two get to sit next to one another. And you wouldn't have it any other way.

We have started you on rice cereal and even tried oatmeal, but so far you aren't that interested. Eating only a Tablespoon or so. Maybe you will skip baby food and just head straight for the good stuff like your sister did?!

We had to move you up in diapers to a size 3!! So sad for mommy. I love Pampers Swaddlers... just the look and smell of a little newborn baby. But I guess you aren't so new anymore. So onto big girl diapers... Cruisers for you! This really confused Grace, b/c she wears Cruisers (size 5) at night... so they look just like yours. Actually it confused your daddy too... he tried to put a size 3 on your sister. Oh daddy... what are we going to do with him?!

We love you sweet girl. I know you aren't going to stay small forever, but slow down just for a little while. :)

1st day

Today was Gracie's first day of preschool. She was so excited yesterday and kept saying " I go school morning"... yeah so she leaves out a few words, but you get the idea. She was excited. She got up and said "morning, school". She walked in the building happy as could be. But then it came time to say bye and the alligator tears started flowing. For those that know Grace, they know this is very rare for her. Normally she is talking to weird person at Wal-mart, would go to anyone and probably stay anywhere. Not today. So I left her crying :( Of course I worried all day thinking she was missing mommy and sister, but when I got there they told me she was probably done crying before I even made it to my car. :) Which of course makes me happy, but a little sad too.

Labor Day weekend

We had a fun weekend. We headed out Saturday morning for Hot Springs, Arkansas. The girls did fabulous in the car (both ways). We didn't do a whole lot, but that was the main idea of the weekend... relax, eat good food (and not have to do the dishes), sleep in a hotel (where we don't have to clean the bathrooms or make the beds) and just have fun hanging out. My parents came along and it was VERY nice to have an extra set of hands to chase Grace and hold Emma. Our good friends, The Lada's, also joined us since they don't live far from Hot Springs. It was great to see them and their girls. We just wished we lived closer since we miss them so much!!
So happy to see each other!!

The little girls... Avery just wanted to eat Emma. And Emma let her :)

Hailey dyed my hair back to natural color... well a little dark right now, but it will fade in a few days. I'm not really good as a blonde (or whatever color I was) since I have such dark eyebrows and my roots were so dark. So back to dark.

Emmy and I

Only bummer about the trip was that we came back a day early. We weren't planning to come home till tomorrow, but due to the hurricane it is suppose to storm BAD (like 5-10 inches of rain), so we opted to drive when it wasn't pouring. So now we just have an extra day with Adam since he already has the day off! YEAH!
More pictures...
We went to an Alligator Farm and Petting zoo... sounds cool, but it was just okay.
This picture reminds me of Micheal Jackson holding his baby over the balcony, but Adam is holding MY baby over the gators! CRAZY!!
Grace watching the gators.. Feedings all the animals. She loved it. Looking at Hot Springs...holding on tight!! And lastly, a picture of Grace's boo boo. She is going through a "love of band aides" stage... do all kids go through this? She LOVES band aides. Anyway, Adam and Grace were playing with ball in the house this evening and Adam accidentally hit Grace on the nose with the ball. She was upset and disappeared into my bathroom... only to return with a band aid on her boo boo... her nose! It was so funny.
